On 3rd August 2024, a lecture titled “Understanding Cyberpsychology: Mind and Machines” was conducted by Ms. Vinorra Shaker. With extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in the field, Ms. Shaker currently serves as a researcher and Head of the Psychobiolaboratory at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, Malaysia.
She introduced students to the field of Cyberpsychology and discussed various types of cyberpsychological disorders, including Digital Self-Harm, Fear of Missing Out, Sextortion, Cyberbullying, and Digital Dating Abuse. The session also provided an overview of the psychological factors underlying these disorders.
Ms. Shaker concluded by highlighting the use of Virtual Reality in treating conditions such as Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), specific phobias, and other techniques practiced at the Psychobiolaboratory at APU. The session was both interactive and insightful, marked by a robust and creative exchange between the facilitator and the students.
Psychology Of Internet Surveillance
A guest lecture on the Psychology of Internet Surveillance was conducted on 14th and 15th February 2024 by Grace Maria Jochan, Assistant Professor at St. Joseph’s University, Bangalore. The session offered insights into the psychological aspects of digital surveillance and its impact on user behavior, privacy concerns, and online interactions.
